There is nothing quite like the excitement of 28 Squirrels on sports day, and that is exactly what turned up at Acomb Primary School this week.
Our youngest members threw themselves into a brilliant afternoon of races and challenges. There were obstacle courses and egg and spoon races, bean bags balanced on heads, cups of water carried at full pelt, and, best of all, cups of water with holes in them balanced on heads. As you can imagine, staying dry was not really the point.
After lots of running, balancing and giggling, it was the Gold team who came out on top. Everyone had a wonderful, if rather hot, time, and every Squirrel went home with a rosette and plenty of well-earned stickers. A brilliant day, and a lot of very happy young people.
