It has been such an international summer with Scouts and Explorers from York at a range of Jamborees from Lincolnshire to Windsor and Denmark, and teaming up with Tamworth to complete an Explorer Belt challenge in Romania. We also want to get a team together to see if we could plan our own District Explorer Belt trip. Let me know if you are interested.
Our small team at York Scout Activity Centre has been busy revamping our Activities Hub for shooting, tomahawks, archery, and laser tag. We have also been buying new equipment, and training instructors. It was great to see a Cub and Scout helping to revitalise Snowball Lodge Pavilion at a Pitch-In Day, and we are keen to create an Explorer Service Crew to do more projects. Our team urgently need additional adult volunteers to help look after Snowball Plantation. Do contact them to see what you can do and show our love for the site, and support for the team.
We also need additional help to deliver District Events. They have earmarked dates for a great range of opportunities. Please plan these into your Section’s programmes: Beavers Activity Day, Cubs Football, Cubs Hike, Shooting Taster Sessions, and Parties for Squirrels, Beavers and Explorers.
Please also join our get togethers for Group Lead Volunteers, Section Team Leaders, and our Carol Service. These are great ways to get to know people, share ideas, and support each other.
Our Top Awards Project Team has sketched plans to develop support for the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and Young Leaders, including a DofE sign-up event and Young Leaders Weekend. We also hope to have monthly opportunities in 2027 to get together, and connect Young Leaders and DofE pools via OSM. In the meantime keep an eye on our WhatsApp groups and District Events page.
