2nd St Thomas has launched its new Squirrel Drey, and the first night went really well.

Six young people aged four and five came along for the opening session, and there are more on the waiting list ready to join in 2027 when they turn four. The Squirrels made acorns, sponge-painted autumn leaves and played parachute games, then settled down for a story about a squirrel called Scout.

The Drey also welcomed two new Young Leaders, who will be helping to run the programme each week.

It comes just after the Group launched a new Explorer Unit for 14 to 18 year olds. That means this was the first ever week with all five sections running: Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. It’s a big milestone for the Group and for Scouting in York.
