Meet the volunteers who make York Scouts happen.
Our team gives their time, skills and enthusiasm to help young people gain skills for life across the district.
District Leads
Provides strategic leadership and connects teams across the District to safely deliver Scouting for over 2000 young people in York. Build relationships within each Scout Group to identify what support they require from our District Teams and facilitate delivery of this.
Volunteer Development Team
Support adult volunteers to have a great experience during their time helping at Scouts. This includes how they join, learn, and develop as volunteers. The team also monitor compliance with mandatory elements of learning and safeguarding requirements. They help connect volunteers from specific Sections to share insights and provide peer support. They additionally provide oversight of formal recognition awards for adult volunteering and maintenance of standards.
Programme Team
Plan and deliver an active calendar of District events for young people from each Section to have fun and adventure with others in their age group across the District. They also support and approve nights away and adventurous activities. Additionally they support Young Leaders (age 14-17) in their development, and young people to achieve Duke of Edinburgh and other top Scouting awards.
Trustee Board
Help to ensure that the District is well-managed, compliant with Scouts Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR) and charity law, and financially secure. They focus on strategy, and management of District risks, assets, and finances, to enable the delivery of quality Scouting.
District Support Team
Provide administrative support for District Teams, and monitor joining and volunteer enquiries. They manage our internal and external communications to support volunteers and promote Scouts and volunteering. They also support specific initiatives to assist Group Lead Volunteers and Trustee Boards.
York Scout Activity Centre (Snowball Plantation)
Maintain and develop our local Scout campsite and activity centre at Snowball Plantation. This includes the provision of
camp sites, facilities, buildings, and activities for young people to enjoy opportunities for recreation, nature, and learning in a safe outdoor environment.
