SUMMARY:St Georges Day Celebrations 2027
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to confirm that venues for our St George’s Day 2027 celebrations have now been secured. The event will take place on Sunday 25 April\, with afternoon parade and services held at York Minster and Central Methodist Church. \nWe have listened carefully to the wide range of feedback shared about last year’s event. We recognise that members hold many different views about the event format\, and how it should evolve. Your reflections have been invaluable in shaping our thinking. \nWe are currently reviewing what changes can be made for 2027. \nWe ask all our Scout Groups to embrace the event\, and join us in celebrating our young people and volunteers. Further information will be shared in the New Year.

SUMMARY:Damboree 2027 - Going on a Bear Hunt
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to let you know we are now accepting registrations of interest for our next Beaver Damboree. Beavers from across North Yorkshire will descend on York Scout Activity Centre (Stockton on the Forest\, York) to partake in a fun-filled weekend of adventure\, exploring the woods with plenty of activities and entertainment to be enjoyed by all. Our theme this year is ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. \nWe’ll be delving into the mystery of the forest\, exploring hidden corners\, tracking signs of wildlife\, doing some target practice\, and building a new bug city while looking out for the infamous bear! \nDamboree is back for its 3rd year\, with a brand new theme and programme to suit. We expect this event to be very popular\, so don’t miss out on a chance for your colony to join us for the weekend which will be on the 12th – 13th June 2027 . \nThe booking of Damboree will be following the below process and timeline; \nIf you are interested in attending with your group\, please register your interest HERE with your current assumed participant numbers by 30th November. \nGroups registering their interest will have a chance to launch this to their sections and the NYS Event Team will be issuing deposit invoices of £100 in the first week of December. If at this stage you do not want to continue your booking\, you can choose to do so. \nAccepted bookings will be taken upon payment receipt of the deposit. Final names are required by 31st January 2027 (otherwise accepted bookings may be cancelled by the Event Team). Balance invoices will then be issued. Any remaining spaces will be given to colonies on the waiting list at this point and any additional group spaces can be given capacity permitting. \nParticipant and leader remaining details including dietary\, medical\, emergency and permissions will be due by 31st March. \nKey details: \nYork Scout Activity Centre (Snowball Plantation)\, Common Lane\, Stockton on the Forest\, York\, YO19 5XS \nYoung person cost of £48 and £20 per group volunteer and non-participating young people (i.e. volunteers children). Group booking will only be accepted following payment of the £100 non refundable deposit. \nThe weekend activity camp is under canvas and will run from Saturday 12th – Sunday 13th June 2027. \nCatering is included as part of this event. \nWe know that some Scouts Groups don’t charge their leaders for camps and events\, but some do. For those that don’t\, we recommend dividing the cost of the leader’s fee across your young people – we want you to make this decision locally\, instead of us increasing the event fee. You may also wish to add a charge to your young people to cover your transportation costs. \nNorth Yorkshire Scouts’ Cancellation Policy can be viewed here. \nIf you have any questions\, or would like to get in touch with the team for any other reason\, please email Damboree@nys.org.uk  \nChecklist: \n*Register your groups interest by 30th November \n*Non-refundable deposit invoice issued – pay £100 early December to accept your booking \n*All names in the system by 31st January – Empty bookings on this deadline may be subject to cancellation. \n*Balance invoices issued and to be paid February \n*Complete all profiles in the booking system (health/dietary/permissions) by 31st March
